Epilepsy or seizures is a brain disorder that causes neurons in the brain send incorrect signals ultimately classified by causing seizures. Seizures (also known as fits or convulsions) are a symptom of epilepsy where as Epilepsy is a neurological disorder. The occurrence of one seizure does not necessarily mean you have epilepsy. The tendency to have seizures or fits is known as epilepsy. The seizures can vary between mood swings, loss of awareness, slow body functioning or unconsciousness. This brain disorder can affect both adults and infants.
There are many causes of epilepsy Medical disorders, Genetic influences, Head trauma, Pre-natal injury, Developmental disorders such as Down syndrome and autism and certain diseases such as meningitis, AIDS and viral encephalitis. Stiffening of the muscles, vomiting, and drooling, sudden urination, unconscious, vigorous shaking of arms and legs and memory loss are some common symptoms of epilepsy. There are few natural remedies that can help deal with epilepsy as they do not have side effects.


1-Globe Thistle, Black Peppers, Cow’s milk

Make a fine powder of 20 gm Black Peppers (Seyha Mirch) and 100 gm Sphaeranthus indicus / Globe Thistle (Gul Mundi) mix in cow’s milk. The patient should be given 1 & ½ tsp this solution at suitable intervals for whole day. It is a highly beneficial and trial treatise to cure obstinate Epilepsy completely.

2-Pellitory / Longwort, Currants

Rub 20 gm Currants (Munaqa) without seeds with 10 gm fine powder of Pellitory / Longwort (Aqarqarah) and start giving to the patient ½ tsp and increase ¾ to 1 tsp daily. It is a natural & magical tip to cure chronic Epilepsy quickly.

3-Fresh Grapes Juice

Squeeze out the juice of the Ash gourd(Petha) 20 kg mix 10 kg Cow’s milk now cook it until it become thick paste (Khoya) now fry it in 1/2 kg cow’s clarified butter (Cow’s ghee) then mix ½ kg Sugar Candy (Misri) powder and make balls (Laddos) each ball should be contain in 50 gm .Take 1 ball on an empty stomach and 1 ball before sleep. 5-Liquorice, Ash gourd juice, Sugar Candy

Ash gourd juice is really effective for curing epilepsy. Mix well 1 tsp Liquorice (Mulethi) powder in a glass of fresh extracted juice of Ash gourd (Petha) and Sugar Candy or Honey to taste and drink once every day to cure epilepsy.

6-Epsom Salt, Orange Juice

Mix 1 tsp Epsom Salt in a glass of fresh Orange Juice or any Citrus fruit juice and take it daily. Epsom salt has magnesium which controls the electrical impulses that comes out from the brain. Magnesium also lowers the risk of seizures caused due to epilepsy.

7-Lemon / Lime juice, Baking soda

8-Black seeds oil, Cow’s butter, Sugar Candy

Mix 12 drops of Nigella seeds (Kalonji) oil in one ounce/25 g Cow’s milk butter or 2 ounces/50 g cream of milk and Sugar Candy as required. Have it on an empty stomach. It is a well-known brain tonic and imparts a sense of calm and peace to mind and also is considered as one of the best natural ingredients for treating epilepsy and relieves symptoms like vertigo, seizures etc.
Black seeds (Kalonji) were traditionally known to have anticonvulsive properties. A 2007 study with epileptic children, whose condition was refractory to conventional drug treatment, found that a water extract (a crushed powder of the seeds with no further processing or concentration) or the seed oil, significantly reduced seizure activity.

 9-Coconut Water, Coconut Milk

Coconut Water or Coconut Milk is really effective for curing epilepsy. As fluids keep the body functioning, it is good to drink coconut water and stay hydrated. 13-White Onion White Onion

If the patient of epilepsy becomes unconscious, extract juice from White Onion (Safed Piyaz) put few drops into the patient’s nostrils. This will help the patient to regain consciousness immediately. Taking extract juice of White Onion (Safed Piyaz) is also effective in seizures.

14-Rectified Spirit, Red Chilli

Mix Red Chilli (Lal Mirch)powder without seeds 10 gram and 300 milliliter Rectified Spirit in an air tight glass bottle let it stand for 15 days and stir it daily after 15 days strain and preserve in another air tight dropper bottle. Drip 1-2 drops into the patient’s nostrils. This will help the patient to regain consciousness immediately.

1-Gotu Kola

Gotu Kola (Brahmi) is a rejuvenative nervine recommended for nervous disorders, including epilepsy, senility and premature aging. As a brain tonic, it is said to aid intelligence and memory. It strengthens the adrenal glands while cleansing the blood to treat skin impurities. It is said to combat stress and depression, energize flagging mental powers, increase libido, ward off a nervous breakdown and improve reflexes. It energizes the central nervous system and rebuilds energy reserves. Tincture – 30 to 60 drops, three times a day, Powered herb – 1,000 to 4,000 milligrams three times a day, Standard extract – 50 to 250 milligrams, three times a day.


Sometimes called “Peruvian ginseng,” maca’s benefits have been long valued, and now have been rediscovered as a supplement and ingredient. Maca comes in pill, liquid and powder form. There are no known side effects of Maca but like any other supplement it should not be taken in large amounts. When you first start using Maca it’s best to begin by taking smaller amounts and building up; even 1/2 teaspoon is a good place to start. And at the other end, 1 tablespoons (of the powder) is an average daily dose. Rotating a few days on and a few days off is often recommended. You simply mix/dissolve it in water or fresh fruit juice. It gives an almost immediate energy boost without the nasty side effects.”


This plant is also a nervine with sedative qualities and is helpful in the treatment of many nervous conditions such as epilepsy, hysteria, anxiety and delirium tremens. Skullcap is available in powder or liquid extract form and as a dried herb. It is commonly sold in capsule form as well. The recommended dosage for adults is 1 to 2 grams of the dried herb, 2 to 3 cups of tea, 2 to 4 ml of the liquid extract three times daily, or 2 to 5 ml of the tincture three times daily. Children may use skullcap but in small doses. The best method of delivery is a mild tea. The child’s physician should be consulted before use. To make a medicinal tea try adding one pint of boiling water to 1 oz. of the dried herb and steep for 10 minutes. This can be served in half cup servings every few hours. For children add 1 cup boiling water to 1 tsp. of dried leaves and steep only 2 minutes to yield a milder tea.


Root of Jatamansi / Spikenard (Sumbal Tayyab) has been clinically proved out as a memory enhancer and neuro-protective can be a fruitful remedy for epilepsy. Practically speaking there are three ways a person can use spikenard. The dried root can be made into a tea. The plant can be made into a tincture and taken internally. 5-Oat straw

This is most likely due to the high Vitamin B complex content contained within the herb. Oat straw’s calming qualities strengthens nerves and encourages a restful night’s sleep. 6-Sweet Flag

Calamus (Bach) is a greatly valued herb in Ayurvedas, as its stimulating aroma rejuvenates the brain and the nervous system. It is also effective against digestive disorders. It is also believed to remedy arthritis, cancer, convulsions, diarrhea, dyspepsia, epilepsy etc. The powder of Sweet flag roots can be mixed with a glass of juice. One teaspoon should be enough. Take this combination with honey, thrice daily. Chewing sweet flag has a refreshing effect on your breath. When you make tea of it, use 2 to 5 teaspoons per 1 cup of boiling water x 3/day Or as directed by a herbal practitioner.

7-Sacred Fig fruit

False pepper (Baobarang) is a vine with tiny flowers that are yellow-green in color; it is useful in fevers, obesity, nervous debility, parasites, rheumatism, stomach difficulties, skin diseases, tumors, psychological problems, and convulsions. This herb is generally regarded as safe for short term use and in the recommended doses (2 to 5 g powder of dried fruit). Due to the strength of its active properties embelin, using this herb past 3 months can eventually cause infertility.


Passionflower (Gul e Salibi) has been used for anxiety, insomnia, restlessness, epilepsy, and other conditions of hyperactivity, as well as high blood pressure. Passionflower also is included in many pain formulas when discomfort is caused by muscle tension and emotional turmoil. The recommended adult doses for passionflower are 10 to 30 drops of the fluid extract, taken three times per day, and 10 to 60 drops of tincture, three times a day. Tea: Steep 0.5 – 2 g (about 1 tsp.) of dried herb in 1 cup boiling water for 10 minutes; strain and cool. For anxiety, drink 3 – 4 cups per day.
